Dr. Salam, is a distinguished educator and mechanical engineer, recently joined our school, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our institution. He has an impressive 29-year career, from primary to secondary to university. He has a PhD, MSc and BSc in Mechanical and Fluid Dynamics (Physics, Math and Heat transfer) with wide experience in Educational Institutions, Managing Educators, Teaching and Consulting.
In addition to his teaching roles, Dr. Salam has made significant contributions to educational institutions, managing educators, teaching, and providing valuable consultancy services. Notably, he served as the coordinator of the Modern European School (MES) and as a Physics and Math Advisor for national and international programs, including SAT, IG, A Level, IB, and IFD programs.
Dr. Salam's influence extends beyond the classroom. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of prestigious institutions such as the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Al-Ahliyya Amman University, contributing significantly to the exponential growth in student enrollment. He has also managed student professional development, nurturing the skills and talents of the next generation. He has also produced educational television series.
Previously, Dr. Salam held positions as the Director of the New York Institute of Technology Creative Activities Center and the Chair of the London Accelerative Learning Association. He also made notable contributions as a children's theater director.
His commitment to education and community service is further exemplified by his involvement on various boards, including the University of South Bank in London College of Applied Science, Emaar Real Estate Development & Investment Company LLC, National Urban Alliance for Effective Education, Teachers Without Borders, Child Research Net (Japan), and The Learning Forum/Super Camp.
Dr. Salam's contributions have earned him recognition as a Fellow of the Lucas Educational Foundation and the International Corporate Learning Association. He is an internationally recognized speaker, author, and trusted consultant to educational organizations. His outstanding leadership has been acknowledged through awards, including the UK Annual Leadership Award by the Citizens Education Center, Award for Community Service, and Leadership Award from the UK Association of Junior Leagues.

Rukaya Hassan - Head of the History Department
Rukaya Hassan is currently pursuing a B.A. in Elementary Education from Spalding University.
She has volunteered in the Mayor’s Youth Board, WE Day, and Give a Day.
Dhahira Sheikh - Head of the Math Department
Dhahira Sheikh is currently working towards a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville. As a Woodford Portor Scholar, she actively engages in volunteering her time with various university events and organizations. Additionally, she dedicates her weekends to tutoring high school students in the subjects of math and science. Furthermore, at HIRA Institute, she serves as an academic instructor, teaching high school-level math, science, and English, in addition to middle school science.
Ikrama Ahmed- Head of the English Department
Ikrama is currently working towards a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at the University of Louisville in hopes of becoming a dentist. She has been active in many ways on campus associations such as the Muslim student association, where she previously was a member of the board, as their public relations director.
Michael Estes - Computer Science teacher C#
Michael is a life-long software developer and educator with 31 years of professional experience. He has done everything from maintenance work to developing solutions that launched companies. He has worked in many industries including logistics, manufacturing and service, health care, benefits outsourcing, payments and finance, and higher education. He has taught computer programming and engineering to students in the International Islamic University of Malaysia prior to joining HIRA.
Alina Zubairy - Middle School Math and High Hchool Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Algebra
Alina has completed her education in India and moved to the US in 2022. She has a degree in Bachelor of Science from mathematics and a master's in computer application from well-known university Integral University Lucknow, India. She held the first position in her education. She did a six-month internship of 'python with Django' and has various certificates and attended seminars in her college time. She loves volunteering and tries to engage herself in social work as much and enjoys traveling a lot.
Bushra Fatima - Science/Social Studies Department
Sr. Bushra is a Physical therapist and Passionate about engaging students on all levels, enhancing their social experiences by encouraging group lessons and learning. Talented in using different teaching methods to reach out to students, including physical demonstrations, drawn illustrations and visual presentations.I teach Elementary,Middle and High School Science and Social studies.I also have volunteering experiences in various community centers.I love to learn various courses as a part of my career,I am also learning about Business Analyst course,different manipulations techniques of Mulligan.
Tahoora Shaikh - Elementary Department
Tahoora Shaikh has a Bachelors in English Literature from one of the prestigious universities of India, Mumbai University. She held the third position in her graduating class. She served as a student council member for her college. She taught elementary students after school for many years in her home country. She homeschooled her children for three years before joining HIRA. She loves cooking and is keen to learn new things.
Zeinab Hamado - Middle School Science, High School Chemistry.
Zeinab Hamado graduated from University of Louisville with a B.A. degree in Biology. She volunteers at the Muslim Community Center of Louisville and at the Islamic School of Louisville to help with various events and to teach Arabic, Quran and Islamic Studies.
At HIRA Institute, she teaches middle school science and high school chemistry.
Additionally, she is teaching Islamic Studies in Sunday School.
Fatima Ali - Elementary Department
Fatima is working toward a Bachelors in Business Administration. She has earned a CDA certificate. She has worked at an Early Childhood daycare for four years. Currently, she teaches at HIRA Institute as an academic teacher teaching language art, math, and science.
Hafsa Furrukh- Middle and High School Math
Hafsa Furrukh teaches at HIRA Institute part time while being a full time college student. Hafsa is currently working on a Bachelor's in Psychology, in her second year of college.
Scholarships
To apply for a scholarship, students must have good Akhlaq and Adab, a strong
academic record, and a desire to complete the memorization of the Qur’an or
become an Alim.
To apply for the 2024/2025 academic year, both parents/guardians are requested
to submit their Federal Taxes and W2 for 2022. In lieu of W2, families can
submit disability, food stamps, or social security award letters. Current
families should submit documents by February 1, 2024. New families may submit
documents until June 1, 2024.
Parents and high school students must fill out the Zakat Eligibility Form
Parents/guardians will meet with the scholarship committee and sign the Payment Contract
In order to receive a scholarship, parents of elementary or middle school students must fulfill volunteer hours. High school students must complete work study hours. The volunteer and work study hours will be included in the scholarship offer.

Admission
The Alimiyyah Program for 9th Grade and up and College is an equivalent of a Bachelors and Masters in Islamic Studies/Arabic. Students in high school also fulfull their high school graduation requirements.

First, student transcripts should reflect a strong academic background.
Second, students must pass the Qur’an Placement Test. They should be able to read any page of the Qur’an fluently. If they are not yet fluent in the reading of the Qur’an, they should enroll for at least one year in the part time Tahfeedh Program. The part time Tahfeedh Program consists of the After School Programs at the HIRA

Third, students need to enroll in the Summer Qur’an Program to be considered for admissions.
At the end of the Summer Qur’an Program, students will be informed if they will be accepted to the full time Alimiyyah Program.
